NWI Welcomes Fibertex Nonwovens as a New ‘Full Member’

The Nonwovens Institute (NWI) is pleased to recognize Fibertex Nonwovens for its decision to join more than 45 industry-leading organizations as a member of the Institute. 

Fibertex Nonwovens is a subsidiary of  Schouw & Co, a diversified Danish industrial conglomerate with a value-creating, active and long-term ownership and a strategic view on each of its businesses.  Founded in Aalborg Denmark in 1968, Fibertex Nonwovens has manufacturing locations in eight countries across the globe serving a variety of industries and market applications. The company’s Elephant logo dates back to its earliest product portfolio and is today a well-established part of its corporate identity symbolizing characteristics such as strength, trustworthiness and wisdom.

In North America, Fibertex Nonwovens has been present in the USA since 2014 with locations in Ingleside, Illinois, and Greenville, South Carolina, producing needlepunch and spunlace fabrics and applying multi-layer technologies to offer a wide range of engineered products and sustainable designs with Automotive, Building Industry, Filtration, Wipes, Personal Care and Hygiene, and much more.

Fibertex attended its first NWI Industrial Advisory Board meeting as a member of the Institute in May 2024. Dan Ellingson, director of research and business development in North America, highlighted the company’s production capabilities, including the ability to produce fabrics using natural and renewable materials, such as cotton, as well as the ability to perform in-process integration of multiple webs allowing highly customizable designed interaction between materials, impacting total material performance. “Fibertex Nonwovens’ diverse range of high-performance nonwovens enables our customers to create next-generation products that drive business results and improve quality of life,” said Ellingson. 

Ellingson also shared comments about attending the May IAB meeting, “It was a great opportunity to network with industry leaders, and I always come away from these sessions energized with new connections and ideas.”
