The Nonwovens Institute (NWI) is pleased to recognize MiniFIBERS, Inc. for its decision to join more than 50 industry-leading organizations as a member of the Institute.  

MiniFIBERS is a family-owned raw material fiber producer headquartered and manufacturing exclusively from its facility in Johnson City, Tennessee.  

The MiniFIBERS legacy began in the early 1960s in a small 600 square-foot workshop in southwest Virginia. Garland Keith and Earl Farmer, two men with a mechanical aptitude and a knack for developing new ideas, assembled their first cutting machine in 1967 and produced the world’s first precision cut fibers.  MiniFIBERS was incorporated in 1968 and would go on to become an industry-leading raw material fiber specialist, offering a variety of fiber products with specialty finishes and customized packaging to match customers’ processes and end uses.   

A broad selection of high-quality synthetic, natural, and sustainable bio-based fibers in custom lengths and finishes are available to meet the demands of the ever-changing engineered fabrics industry.  MiniFIBERS’ products are valued for bonding, tensile strength, heat and chemical resistance, dimensional stability and more.  Capabilities for both developmental and commercial products include:

• Lab scale extruders that can test as little as 5-10 lbs. of polymer
• Extrusion to customer specification of  fiber type and properties
• Bi-component filament fiber production 
• Crimping and cutting capabilities

MiniFIBERS sells its precision cut fibers and yarns directly within the United States, and uses a strong network of distributors to promote its products in over 25 countries around the world, working to increase availability and reach new markets.
