SUMMARY:Fiber and Filament Extrusion Fundamentals Short Course – September 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Fiber & Filament Extrusion Fundamentals Short Course will provide attendees a firm understanding of the critical variables and process parameters required to optimize extrusion processes for meltblown\, spunbond and staple-fiber nonwovens. Key topics covered during this course include: \n\nFiber morphology and defining the molecular aspects related to fiber orientation\, crystallinity\, amorphous volume\, etc.\nStress-strain concepts and an understanding of the development of physical property behavior.\nProcess parameters that control fiber temperature\, diameter\, velocity\, acceleration\, etc.\n\nIn addition to spunbond and meltblown nonwoven processes\, this course will also consider staple fiber processes and the process for crimping and cutting fibers\, highlighting the differences between filament extrusion and staple-fiber extrusion. \nMulti-component fiber extrusion will be considered\, highlighting opportunities for creating unique fibers and properties that are not attainable in a single-component fiber. \nThe lab portion of the course will provide attendees time in The Nonwovens Institute’s world-class Meltblown\, Spunbond\, Staple Nonwovens and Analytical Testing labs to help enforce learnings and demonstrate how fiber properties evolve during the extrusion process. \nWho should attend? \n\nResearch & Development\nProcess & Plant Management\nSales & Marketing\n\nThis course is designed to be accessible and valuable to attendees who do not have prior hands-on knowledge in fiber extrusion\, as well as those who have a strong foundational knowledge of extrusion fundamentals. \nExpert Instructors: \n\nBehnam Pourdeyhimi\, Ph.D.\, Professor and Executive Director\, The Nonwovens Institute (NWI) at NC State University\nHechmi Hamouda\, Ph.D.\, Faculty\, NWI\, NC State University (ret.)\nCharlie King\, UNIFI (ret.)\nCarl Wust\, Ph.D.\, FiberVisions (ret.)\nAmy Minton\, Analytical & Physical Testing Lab Manager\, NWI\n\nCourse Outline \n\n\n\n\n\n \nCourse Preview \n\n\n\n\n\n \nRegister Now \n\n\n\n\n\n \n  \nThis course is presented in partnership with:
