SUMMARY:Meltblown Technology Short Course
DESCRIPTION:The Meltblown Technology Short Course combines classroom learning with hands-on activities in NWI’s state-of-the-art fabrication and testing labs to provide attendees a fundamental understanding of the process of forming meltblown webs. The course focuses on the importance of controlling structure-property-process relationships to optimize meltblown materials for the requirements of the application. The course will cover common polymers\, such as PP\, as well as the use of alternative polymers (PET\, PLA\, PBS\, etc.)\, providing attendees an “algorithm” for running an efficient meltblown process based on polymer properties. \nUpon completing the course\, attendees will have a comprehensive grasp on meltblown nonwoven production processes\, including raw material selection\, basic science knowledge\, testing\, and the characterization used to create end-use products. SUMMARY:RISE® – the Research\, Innovation and Science for Engineered Fabrics conference – 2025
DESCRIPTION:The RISE® Conference will be presented Oct. 14-15\, 2025\, at the McKimmon Center on the campus of North Carolina State University. RISE® will focus on emerging technologies in nonwovens\, with thought leaders spanning the entire supply chain converging to discuss cutting-edge advancements and research. Participants will gain invaluable insights in advanced recycling methods\, next-gen materials\, bio-based adhesives\, packaging transitions and machinery efficiency. The event will also provide attendees an opportunity to tour the world-class nonwoven fabrication and testing facilities at The Nonwovens Institute (NWI) on the Centennial Campus of NC State University.  \nAttendees will experience a full two days of insights into nonwovens innovation and experience NWI’s extensive facilities for developing and producing nonwovens. Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with NWI’s current student researchers\, who will present their posters during a RISE® networking reception. SUMMARY:Spunbond Technology Short Course
DESCRIPTION:The Spunbond Technology Short Course combines classroom learning with hands-on activities in NWI’s state-of-the-art fabrication and testing labs to provide attendees a fundamental understanding of the process of forming spunbond webs. The course focuses on the importance of controlling structure-property-process relationships to optimize spunbond materials for the requirements of the application. The course will cover common polymers\, such as PP\, as well as the use of alternative polymers (PET\, PLA\, PBS\, etc.)\, providing attendees an “algorithm” for running an efficient spunbond process based on polymer properties. \nUpon completing the course\, attendees will have a comprehensive grasp on spunbond nonwoven production processes\, including raw material selection\, basic science knowledge\, testing\, and the characterization used to create end-use products.
